Converting minutes to hours

How to find hours and minutes when the number of minutes is known:
Divide the number of minutes by 60.
The quotient is the number of hours.
The remainder is the number of minutes greater than those in full hours.
It is a good idea to memorise skip counting 60,since we are dealing with the basic 1 hour = 60 minutes.

Next, let's look at some examples showing the work and calculations that are involved in converting from minutes to hours (min to hr) or converting from hours to minutes (hr to min).
Minute to Hour Conversion Example
Task: Convert 240 minutes to hours (show work)
Formula: minutes ÷ 60 = hours
Calculations: 240 minutes ÷ 60 = 4 hours
Result:
240 minutes is equal to 4 hours
Hour to Minute Conversion Example
Task: Convert 15 hours to minutes (show work)
Formula: hours x 60 = minutes
Calculations: 15 hours x 60 = 900 minutes
Result:
15 hours is equal to 900 minutes
